Forestdale Rd
Forestdale Rd is a stunning, high elevation shelf road that drops down into a double lake called “Lost Lakes”. There is dispersed camping along the lakes under the shade of trees. The trail is tight at times, requires 4×4 and often well used on weekends. The first lake is relatively easy access as long as you are comfortable engaging 4×4 and don’t mind heights. The views are incredible and look like something out of a movie. You have to pass a “gatekeeper” of a few boulders to access the 2nd lake. This lake is optional. Some scraping of the rock sliders should be expected. If you elect to bypass and continue past the Lost Lakes, you will find yourselves driving back down a switchback road with some rocks to navigate. This trail will drop you off at Upper and Lower Blue Lakes.
The Blue lakes are accessible by a back road that is paved. These lakes are much larger then the Lost Lakes, have more refined campgrounds, some facilities and may require onsite payment. These campgrounds are accessible by RV. When you’re ready to leave. It is recommended to leave out Blue Lakes Rd toward Hwy 88. This road is paved, there are several dispersed camping sites along this road by open meadows or in the forest.
This trail is only open during the summer into fall. After the snowmelt and before the snow begins. Trail is impassable and closed when covered in snow.
